Universal's Halloween Horror Nights Are Coming, Here's What We Know so Far

New details of haunted houses and scare zones in Orlando and Hollywood were just announced.

The dog days of summer have just arrived and most of us are still in the midst of planning beach trips and re-upping our sunscreen supply. But August now falls into the Halloween planning months, as made evident by the recent release of new details for the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2023 haunted houses lineup.

Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood will each host 10 haunted houses, five scare zones, new themed food and beverage areas, and a totally new entertainment show this fall. Halloween Horror Nights 2023 will take place on select nights between September 1 though November 4 at Universal Orlando Resort and between September 7 through October 31 in Hollywood. Just an FYI, the event is expected to sell out, so tickets should be purchased as far in advance as you can manage it. Tickets are available at HalloweenHorrorNights.com

Halloween Horror Nights 2022 featured haunted houses and mazes based on Halloween and Michael Myers, Universal Monsters, the Blumhouse films Freaky and The Black Phone, and lots more, including some bits from Jordan Peele's Nope and Death Eaters roaming the Wizarding World for the first time ever.

For 2023, the haunted house lineup at Universal Orlando Resort will feature five new original haunted houses, plus ones based off of The Last of Us, Stranger Things Season 4, The Exorcist: Believer, and the previously announced Chucky. Check out the lineup for all 10 haunted houses below:

  • The Last of Us
  • Stranger Things 4
  • The Exorcist: Believer
  • Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count
  • Universal Monsters: Unmasked
  • Dr. Oddfellow: Twisted Origins
  • Dueling Dragons: Choose Thy Fate
  • YETI: Campground Kills
  • The Darkest Deal
  • Bloodmoon: Dark Offerings

The Last of Us, Stranger Things 4, The Exorcist: Believer, Chucky: Ultimate Kill Count, and Universal Monsters: Unmasked will also be featured at Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights, while details on the Hollywood park's location-specific haunted houses and scare zones will come later.

Orlando's five scare zones will be called Dr. Oddfellow's Collection of Horror, Dark Zodiac, Jungle of Doom: Expedition Horror, Vamp '69: Summer of Blood, and Shipyard 32: Horrors Unhinged.

The new show at Universal Orlando will be called Nightmare Fuel Revenge Dream, and will feature nightmares that "burn out of control as pyro and aerial performers fire guests up to the beat of metal and electronica."
